Quaternary Ice Sheet-Ocean Interactions and Landscape Responses
Mark your calendar for the American Quaternary Association Biennial Meeting to be held June 5-7, 2008, at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel at the Penn State University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. Additional field trips are scheduled on June 4, and June 8-9, with the Teachers' Workshop on June 3-4. The meeting is hosted by Penn State's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum, and the American Quaternary Association.
American Quaternary Association (AMQUA)
AMQUA is a professional organization of North American scientists devoted to studying all aspects of the Quaternary Period, the last 2 million years of Earth history. The
Quaternary Period is significant because the Ice Age environmental changes associated with the growth and decay of continental glaciers were the backdrop for global changes in floral
and faunal communities, including extinction of diverse megafauna, and for the evolution of modern humans and their dispersal throughout the world.
AMQUA Biennial Meeting
2008 Theme: Quaternary Ice Sheet-Ocean Interactions and Landscape Responses
The Biennial Meeting focuses on a theme of general interest to a broad spectrum of disciplines (e.g., oceanography, paleoclimatology, glaciology, geomorphology, paleoecology, anthropology, etc.). Invited plenary talks are given by experts in their discipline focusing on the theme of the meeting. There is a dedicated poster session open to all people attending the conference. Please open the Call for Abstracts tab to submit your abstract. Social occasions allow guests to interact with one and other in a casual way.
